NI WAYAN MARTHA SAFARANI ( KARANGASEM - BALI )

Shalom, let me introduce myself, my name is Ni Wayan Martha Safarani. I am usually called Wayan. I have four older sisters and I am the youngest child. I have an older sister who also lives in Cornerstone Home with me, her name is Ni Ketut Indah Sumartini, who is usually called Ketut.

We come from a family that doesn’t believe in the Lord Jesus, to be precise we come from the Bali Island.

The story of my life began when our father died in 2010, at that time I was 9 months old. God allowed us to pass many tests, more precisely the lack of economy in our family which made us have to live at Cornerstone Home. Indeed, at first we were angry with God, why did God put us here? Why do we have to experience this test? And time goes on. As it turns out, we are starting to find the answer. Jesus is good! God placed us in the Cornerstone Home, so that we could know Him better. Now we have been baptized, we serve God together, we build our personal relationship with God, we always do the prayer altar every morning, read the Bible, and pray with our brothers and sisters in the faith at Cornerstone Home, and many other good things which are planted in us in order to become true peacemakers of Christ. I have a dream of becoming a doctor. Not just to help my parent, but I want to spread the love of Christ to many people, so that they can also know who the Lord Jesus is.

I really hope that the Lord Jesus will continue to guide and help me, so that I can achieve whatever I pray for every day.

That’s the story of my life. Lord Jesus bless us all. Amen.

NI KETUT INDAH SUMARTINI
( KARANGASEM - BALI )

Shalom, let me introduce myself, my name is Ni Ketut Indah Sumartini. I am usually called Ketut.

I have 3 older sisters and 1 younger sister. I have a younger sister who also lives at Cornerstone Home with me, her name is Ni Wayan Martha Safarani who is usually called Wayan. Initially, there were three of us who entered Cornerstone Home, whom are myself, my younger sister – Wayan, and my older sister – Putri who has already graduated from Cornerstone Home because she has finished high school and has found a good job outside. We come from a family that doesn’t believe in the Lord Jesus, to be precise we come from the island of Bali.

Our life story began when our father died in 2010. God allowed us to pass many trials, especially the lack of economics in our family which made us live at Cornerstone Home.

Indeed, at first we were angry with God, why did God put us here? Why does our family have to go through this trial when we were still very young? Why not someone else’s family? Why should we be sent to an orphanage? Why isn’t there our relative who wants to help us, so that we don’t have to be separated from our mother and our other older sisters? And time goes on. Apparently, we began to understand how good the Lord Jesus is! God placed us in the Cornerstone Home, so that we could get to know Him more personally. Now, we have been baptized and we serve God together. We build our personal relationship with God, we always pray at the altar, read the Bible, and pray with our brothers and sisters in the Cornerstone House everyday.

I have the dream of becoming a policewoman working in the field of Traffic IT, while my younger sister Wayan dreams of becoming a doctor. My sister and I really hope that the Lord Jesus will continue to guide and help us so that we can achieve whatever we aspire to and pray for every day. We have nothing, but we believe we have a Heavenly Father who loves us and will help us through anyone to fulfill His plan and calling in our lives.

Lord Jesus bless you, all brothers/sisters, Amen.

JERRY OUNGGUT
( SUMBA - NTT )

Shalom, my name is Jerry Ounggut

I am an only child, I come from Sumba. The origin of why I entered Cornerstone Home was because I was an orphan and had no relatives who could accommodate me, so I entered Cornerstone Home so that I could continue studying at Cornerstone School.

My dream is to work on a cruise ship as a cook. I pray that God will fulfill my dreams in the future.

Thank you and Lord Jesus bless you. Amen.

JOSHUA FRANSISCO LOPUHAA
( AMBON - MALUKU )

Shalom, let me introduce myself, my name is Michael Joshua Francisco Lopuhaa. Usually I am called Joshua. We are 2 brothers and I am the second child. My eldest brother is Gabriel Imanuel Valentino Lopuhaa, who is usually called Valen.

We come from a family that lives just barely, to be precise, we have to work hard to meet our living needs. In the beginning, we were a well-off family where my father was the backbone of the family, having an income that could meet our daily needs. However, one day my father and mother had a big fight and caused my father to leave the house. Since then, our economy has dropped drastically, we only live in poverty and have to work odd jobs to meet our needs. At that time, my mother advised me to live at Cornerstone Home, so I could continue my studies. At first I refused, because I didn’t want anything bad happen to my mother and brother. However, after I understood the conditions that were happening, I agreed with my mother’s decision. When I was at Cornerstone Home I felt that this is God’s way for my life, so that I could experience a new environment where we build a harmonious sense of family without any disputes that tore us apart. I feel that this is where I am formed and forged to become someone who has a sense of discipline, responsibility, and family relationships. We always hold morning altar, pray together, and read the Bible with our brothers/sisters in the faith at Cornerstone Home.

I have a dream of becoming a musician. I hope in God to guide me to achieve my goals and dreams.

Jesus bless you. Amen.

MICHAEL GALANG CHRISTIANO
( SALATIGA - JAWA TENGAH )

Shalom, let me introduce myself, my name is Michael, we are 3 siblings, I have an older (half) sister named Gabriel and a younger brother named Noah. My sister lives in Java with Mama’s family. Meanwhile, my younger brother Noah and I live in the Cornerstone Home, starting from the disaster that befell my mother, who was tricked by her friends. Our mother became sick and could no longer work like before. So, we had to be evicted from one boarding house to another. My father is also no longer able to work. It came to a point where I had to leave my old school because my parents couldn’t pay the school fees. Then I moved to Cornerstone School. Likewise with my brother.

Due to the limitations of our father and mother, Ps. Henry and Mrs. Nova asked us to stay at Cornerstone Home. All because of God’s goodness, because at first it was difficult for Mom to let us go and we also felt the same way, as we were used to being together. Mama once tried to leave us with her mother’s family, but they all had conditions that we follow her family’s beliefs, which of course was difficult for us. But God’s infinite love for us, we finally agreed to live at the Cornerstone House, so that my brother and I could continue our studies.

I dream of becoming a police officer and my younger brother dreams of becoming a pastor. Praise God, while we are at Cornerstone Home, we study and are educated to be obedient children and learn to please God.

GILANG NOA RISTA
( SALATIGA - JAWA TENGAH )

Shalom, let me introduce myself, my name is Noah, I have 2 siblings. I have an older (half) sister named Gabriel and an older brother named Michael. My older sister lives in Java with my mother’s family. Meanwhile, my brother Michael and I live in the Cornerstone Home.

Our problem started with an incident that befell my mother, who was tricked by her own friends, so that our mother became sick and could no longer work like before. We had to be evicted from one boarding house to another. My father is also already old and sickly, so my father is no longer able to work. My older brother and I had to be expelled from our old school because we were in arrears on our tuition fees for months, and finally we moved to Cornerstone School. Due to the limitations of our father and mother, Ps. Henry and Mrs. Nova asked us to live at Cornerstone Home, so that we could continue going to school, and our father and mother could put their lives back again.

I am grateful because I see that my father and mother are slowly starting to recover, my brother and I can continue to go to school and our lives are preserved. That’s what made me want to become a pastor, because I experience and see God’s goodness in our family’s life and my own.

Praise God, while we are at Cornerstone Home, we learn and are educated to be obedient children, love God, and learn to serve God.

I am an orphan, I no longer have biological parents, and I don’t have a good education like most children. However, since I was little, I dreamed of becoming a priest.

Praise God, in 2019 I joined Cornerstone Church, because I heard the news that this church provides scholarships for young people who want to dedicate their lives to become full-time servants of God. I came to Bali to study Theology at Cornerstone International School of Theology and I live in the Cornerstone Home. Praise God, my life is well provided for, from meal costs to college costs. And in Cornerstone I can feel the love of family and the love of my parents which is so beautiful in my life, because in this place I have learned a lot to be strong through this life.

Praise God, in 2023 I was able to finish my studies well and get a Bachelor’s degree in Theology. I am grateful for God’s goodness and grace, so that I can experience all of this. I also thank God for my spiritual father and mother, Pastor Henry Parera and Mother Alexandra Ivanova who have accepted me as a child in Cornerstone Home.

Thank You. Jesus bless you. Amen.

Isaiah 61:1-5,

“1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; 3To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. 4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. 5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.”
